When to Call 911
If you smell gas or a carbon monoxide alarm goes off, get everyone outside and call 911 first. Do the same if you believe anyone's health or safety is at risk.
Before We Get There
Clear a path to the equipment
The basement stairs, the attic hatch, the closet. The technician will need to get to it quickly.
Keep your phone close
The on-the-way text, with your technician's photo, goes to the number you called from.
Pets in another room
Doors will be opening and closing, and tools will be on the floor.
If it's water, shut the main
Only if you can reach it safely. It's usually where the water line enters the house.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does an emergency visit cost more than a regular one?+
An after-hours visit is priced differently from a daytime appointment, and it varies with the time and the job, so we don't publish one number. What doesn't change: you hear the price before any work starts, and nothing happens until you approve it.
What counts as a Kintech heating emergency?+
When it is cold outside and there is no heat in your home, especially with children, older relatives or anyone unwell or immunocompromised. Additionally, if there is water pouring from the system, you should also reach out to Kintech immediately.
What counts as a 911 emergency?+
A gas smell or a carbon monoxide alarm is an emergency requiring 911 involvement. Get everyone outside first, call 911 immediately and your gas utility. You can call Kintech only after you are out of the house and 911 has been contacted.
What counts as a cooling emergency?+
If you believe anyone's health or safety in your home is at risk, call 911 immediately before calling Kintech. Cooling emergencies may sometimes occur if an AC system is broken or malfunctioning during an intense heat wave. There may also be a cooling emergency if you see smoke coming out of your system or notice a burning smell.
What counts as a plumbing emergency?+
If you believe anyone's health or safety in your home is at risk, call 911 immediately. You may have a plumbing emergency if you can't shut off your water; you have no water at all or no hot water; or in some cases, if you have a strong water leak.
We do not deal with complex plumbing issues including but not limited to sewage, septic and main plumbing lines. For those issues, we will refer you to one of our trusted plumbing partners.
Will I know when the technician is on the way?+
Yes. You get a text with your technician's photo when they're heading to you, and a link that shows the van on a map so you can see them coming. Nobody has to wait by the window.
Is it a different crew after hours?+
No. It's the same Kintech technicians who work during the day. You get the same standards after hours: a plain-language explanation of what's wrong and the price before any work starts.
