0+ Five-Star Reviews

“Scott called to let us know he was on his way. When he arrived he was friendly and professional. He performed our yearly tune up on our oil burner and hot water heater. No issues with either. Would definitely recommend.”

— Kathy P.

Once a year. Every system.

Yearly maintenance is strongly recommended for every heating system, and manufacturers often require it to keep your warranty valid.

Why It Matters

Here's Why It's Essential for Your Home

Four things yearly maintenance does for your heating system, and for the home it keeps warm.

Frequently Asked Questions

My heat works fine. Do I really need maintenance?+

That's the best time to do it. A system that runs fine today can still be carrying a dirty flame sensor, a weak igniter, or a heat exchanger starting to crack, and none of those give much warning. Don't wait until the coldest night of the year to find out. Once a year we clean, check, and run it through a full cycle so it's proven before you need it.

How often should a furnace or boiler be serviced?+

Once a year. Gas furnaces and boilers, oil burners, heat pumps, and on-demand boilers all get an annual visit. Oil systems are the least forgiving if it's skipped, because the filter, strainer, and nozzle are meant to be replaced every season.

When is the best time to schedule heating maintenance?+

Early fall is ideal, since the schedule is open and the system gets checked before it runs hard. If you're already past early fall, the second-best time is now. A system that hasn't been serviced in the past year shouldn't wait for next season.

What if Kintech finds a problem during the visit?+

We tell you what we found in plain language. Many repairs can be done on the spot, and you get the price before any work starts. If a part has to be ordered, we give you an estimate and you decide whether you'd like us to take care of it.

Does skipping maintenance void my warranty?+

Sometimes, yes. Many manufacturers require regular maintenance, and they can turn down a warranty claim when there's no record of it. An annual visit keeps you within their terms and gives you the service record to show for it.

Do you service oil burners?+

Yes. An oil burner visit replaces the parts that wear each season, the oil filter, strainer, and nozzle, and cleans and adjusts the electrodes. If soot vac is required, additional charges will apply.

I already have a service agreement with my oil company. Why switch to Kintech?+

Look at the whole bill, not only the maintenance plan or service agreement. Oil companies often keep the maintenance plan cheap and charge more per gallon for the oil, so a low-cost plan can end up costing more over a winter than it looks. Add up what you pay for oil and maintenance together, then compare it with buying oil at a better rate and having your system maintained separately. For many homeowners it's much more cost-efficient, and you're free to buy oil wherever the price is best. Plus, you're getting a team like Kintech that specializes in the mechanics of your heating system, rather than an oil company that may just know the basics.

What's the difference between a maintenance visit and a membership?+

The work done on site is the same either way. With or without a membership, a maintenance visit is the full inspection, cleaning and safety check. What a membership adds is a year of perks:

  • 20% off your yearly heating maintenance
  • 50% off the diagnostic fee on any service call
  • 10% off heating repairs (Gold and Platinum)
  • 24-hour priority response (Platinum)
  • $200 off a heating replacement (Platinum)
  • 10% off upgrades like UV lights and HEPA filters (Platinum)
  • 10% off each membership when you hold both heating and AC
  • A call or text from our office when your visit is due
Is a tune-up the same as maintenance?+

Yes. Some companies call the yearly visit a tune-up. We call it maintenance, because it's a full inspection, cleaning and safety check rather than a quick adjustment. Same visit, either name.
