My oil burner runs fine. Do I really need maintenance?+
That's the best time to do it. A burner that runs fine today can still be running on a clogged filter, a worn nozzle or electrodes out of adjustment, and none of those give much warning. Don't wait until the coldest night of the year to find out. Once a year we replace the parts that wear, clean and check the rest, and run it through a full cycle so it's proven before you need it.
How often should an oil burner be serviced?+
Once a year. Oil systems are the least forgiving if it's skipped, because the filter, strainer, and nozzle are meant to be replaced every season.
What's the difference between a one-time visit and the plan?+
The visit is the same either way: the full inspection, cleaning and safety check. On the plan it costs less, you get a year of member perks, and our office reaches out when your visit is due, so there's nothing to remember.
What if Kintech finds a problem during the visit?+
We tell you what we found in plain language. Many repairs can be done on the spot, and you get the price before any work starts. If a part has to be ordered, we give you an estimate and you decide whether you'd like us to take care of it.
What if my oil burner is too old to keep fixing?+
If a repair makes more sense than a replacement, we'll say so. If it's time for a new system, the estimate is free and given at your home, with no obligation.
Does skipping maintenance void my warranty?+
Sometimes, yes. Many manufacturers require regular maintenance, and they can turn down a warranty claim when there's no record of it. An annual visit keeps you within their terms and gives you the service record to show for it.
Is a tune-up the same as maintenance?+
Yes. Some companies call the yearly visit a tune-up. We call it maintenance, because it's a full inspection, cleaning and safety check rather than a quick adjustment. Same visit, either name.
